How to Apply for Grant Funding

We fund projects that improve legal education, access to justice, and legal support for Islanders.

HOW TO APPPLY

We welcome project proposals from organizations that aim to improve access to justice and legal knowledge in Prince Edward Island.

Steps for submitting

Step 1.

Ensure your proposal aligns with our mandate by reviewing WHAT WE FUND; if you’re unsure, please contact us to discuss.

Step 2.

Please download and thoroughly review all APPLICATION FORMS.

Step 3.

Determine the TYPES OF GRANT(S) you want to apply for and be sure to note our APPLICATION DEADLINES.

Step 4.

Review our application checklist ensuring it is complete. Then SUBMIT your application.

WHAT WE FUND

We support projects that align with our mandate, including:

• Legal needs of seniors, newcomers, low-income Islanders, and other vulnerable groups
• Innovative approaches to improve access to justice
• Practical and accessible public legal education
• Technology that enhances legal services or public legal education


All proposals must be law-related and fall within the Foundation’s statutory objectives. The Board of Governors reviews all applications and makes final funding decisions. The Law Foundation of PEI generally accepts grant applications twice a year during the month of April and the month of October.

Micro-Grants requests can be sent directly to the Executive Director any time throughout the year and only require a brief project overview and requested amount.

Note: You may apply for more than one project, but each must be submitted as a separate application.

APPLICATION FORMS

All applications must contain the following documents:

• Completed and Signed Project Application Form:
• Completed Budget Form
• Details of Proposed Activities
• Letter of Intent (for large grant applicants only)

TYPES OF GRANTS

The Law Foundation of Prince Edward Island offers three levels of funding:

  • Micro Grants – Less than $5,000
  • Regular Grants – Up to $15,000
  • Large Grants – Over $15,000
