About The Law Foundation of Prince Edward Island

ESTABLISHED IN 1973

Proud to Advance Justice For all Islanders

The Law Foundation of Prince Edward Island was established in 1973 under the Legal Profession Act to support access to justice, legal education, and legal system improvements across the province.

Our work is made possible through a fund maintained by the Foundation, which is primarily supported by interest earned on lawyers’ pooled trust accounts. These funds are used to support initiatives that align with our mandate, including:

  • Legal education, research, and law reform
  • Promoting legal aid and access to justice

How we are governed

The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Governors, as set out in Part 7 of the Legal Profession Act. The Board includes representatives from the legal community, government, and the public, ensuring a broad and balanced perspective.

• Members: Susan Robinson, K.C., D. Spencer Campbell, K.C., M. Cindy Cameron, Charity Hogan
